Masters Programs for Disciplined RNs?

Published

My license was suspended about 15 years ago for diversion. It was a stupid, short-lived mistake that has of course followed me around ever since. I eventually went into psych nursing and found my calling. I recently accepted a Nurse Educator position that requires an MSN within 5 years. I've applied to multiple different colleges who have all rejected me due to my past disciplinary action. Do any colleges accept nurses with past disciplinary action for Masters programs? If so, what colleges?

The school I received my nursing degree from is known for accepting people with prior discipline. There is a separate post on AllNurses from someone who was accepted there after being on probation with the board. Samuel Merritt University is the school and they are based in Oakland/Sacramento but have online FNP, PMHNP, etc. Another school was also recommended to me by a former professor of mine, Frontier University. Frontier is definitely more affordable than SMU. I have also heard good things about Walden University. Just another to try. Don't give up!

I have a prior disciplinary action and got accepted in the PMHNP program at University of Texas, it is 100% online

I am starting in March but I'm concerned about finding preceptors. I was accepted into Chamberlain for the same program.

Preceptor will not be that tough.  Go to the your local low income-community health-primary care type clinic that caters to low income/underserved populations.  These jobs don't pay as well and the patient load can by higher and sometimes more difficult for NP's and PA's, but they are usually very friendly to those in recovery and this is where you will find your preceptor.  They are usually begging for help.
