masters now or later??

Hello everyone,

In search of a little guidance! I am currently a second year adult nursing BSc student in London. I have begun to think about postgraduate options and I am certain that I wish to pursue further education. I have really taken an interest in health science research and have found a number of MSc courses open to healthcare graduates.

I enjoy nursing, care deeply for my patients and feel that if I found a well-suited area I would excell. I have concerns that I don't fit into the ward nursing environment at all and I have a tendancy to be quite introverted, analytical and thoughtful. This is no way affects my professional manner however or communictaion within the MDT/patients ect and I have always had very positive feedback from all my mentors/staff/patients. I adore the theoretical aspects of the course and have developed a passion for biology. Writing is definately my strong point and I can picture myself in a research role or perhaps in the community or theatre.

(I realised I got slightly side-tracked there!) I'd like to know if it is worth it going straight intoa masters course or perhaps waiting until I gain experience in a suitable field! Many people seem to think I should do it now, whilst I am in study mode ect and have no restrictions. I'm just not sure! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for listening :)

Personally I would wait and consolidate as a qualified nurse, your going to have a steep learning curve and going straight onto a masters may be taking on a bit much

Nursing takes all sorts, i am introverted and sometimes struggle to make small talk with colleagues, but I am a good nurse and feel I have the respect of my colleagues because of that
