Masters or BSN? - for non RN transfers

Has anyone done research to find out what the advantage of going through an accelerated BSN program versus an entry MSN program? Since MSN is much longer than most BSN programs, I wanted to find out in the "real word" which has the better advantage. My goal is to eventually earn a NP, but with many general MSN programs, it is only 2 years, which doesn't qualify you for the NP and I would need to go back to school for it.

Is there really an advantage to earning the MSN right off the bat?

For the amount of time and money invested to obtain your BSN, you would be MUCH BETTER OFF going for your MSN. A BSN (Accelerated) could cost you a year and about 25 thousand.
