Hey everyone!

I need an expert decision as I am in dilemmatic situation.I am a Pakistani Nurse and I have scored IELTS 4 times but can not score IELTS 7 in each module.I am sure because of this many nurses like me are suffering. Can somebody please suggest me in which board of Nursing I will be eligible to work as a nurse in USA or what should I do,and also let me know if USA is issuing work permit to nurses nowadays. My score is: Listening 6.5, Reading 4.5, Writting 6, Speaking 8.5, over all 6.5.

Thank you so much,

Solomon

Usually it's not a problem if you don't get all the 7. The minimum requirement of some states is an overall score of 6.5 and speaking score of 7. But your reading score is below the minimum requirement of 6.

And no, there are no visas for nurses in the US. The closest you can get is an H1B, but that requires specialty experience and can be very difficult to prove.

:)Thank you so much your reply ,in the previous ielts I have also got 6 all with 7.5 speaking but dont know which state of USA to apply for credendials(CES) report. Is there any board which evaluates itself rather than a foreign body(CGFNS)? I am ready to give NCLEX.What would be the best option for me right now.Do you think I might get a US Work permit?

Kindly help me with this.

Big thanks

Like I said, it's almost, close to 100% impossible that you'll get a work permit. Very few will qualify and mostly in specialty position. And in choosing a state, you choose where you want to live and work eventually, not the one that is convenient at the time being. There are few that has an alternate credential evaluation service other than CGFNS. But again, before you even consider taking the NCLEX and spend your money and efforts into this, think of the current employment and immigration situation in the US.

I am very glad for the helpfull suggestion you gave. For now its seems better for me to keep USA thoughts at a side apparently. With the following IELTS score:Listening 6.5, Reading 6,Writting 6, Speaking 7:over all 6.5 ,which state of Canada I should apply and please guide me the steps.

Thank you ever so much

So you pretty much would go wherever there's an opportunity?

Just to give you an insight, coz I understand what you're going through coz I was kind of in the same shoes before.

Canada just took Registered Nurses off the Federal Skilled Worker's occupation list. So even with the temporary work visa, it'll be hard to get an LMO (Labour Market Opinion - which basically is a test to check whether there's no qualified Canadians to fill in the job, normally through advertisements).

In Australia, you need all 7 on all subtest. Then you have to study for 3 months (bridging program). Then find a sponsor, which to be honest can also be very hard to get these days. Still possible, though, if you have years of experience. Also, if you check on skillselect.gov.au, you might qualify for a permanent residency without a sponsor through the point system. But yeah, you need 7 on IELTS and study for 3 months which costs $12,000 on average, plus your living expenses.

And apparently, New Zealand also took nurses of the shortage list.

Canada doesn't have states for starters.

First, a very big thanks for taking time for me.

Defo I am hunting for any good opportunity. So the best option for me is Australia and this means I have get 7 in each module.Ielts is a horible exam I tell you. what do you think if UK could be any fortune for me?

Thank you very much indeed

In theory, there's a possibility of work opportunities here in Australia. In reality, that possibility can be very difficult. Although nursing is still listed on the shortage occupations list, the government is implementing stricter rules for working visa application. And you need years of work experience, too, to compete with thousands of other overseas RN's who's already here studying to be a nurse either on a conversion program or the bridging programs.

The last time I checked, UK is practically closed for nurses. And even if it is open, they give preference to EU citizens before they consider applications from the rest of the world.

All English as first language countries require high English skills from the health profession otherwise, the consumers will be at risk.

There is no quick fix to enter and work in any English speaking country, the UK especially.

Until you can improve your English skills you cannot consider any of the countries you keep requesting information on.

Australia is the only country where you have a chance to emigrate until they take nursing off the shortage list, but then you still need English at a high standard and have at least 3 months experience then complete a very expensive bridging course.

how can I ever be thankful for the wonderful information from you all.Indeed, I am going to achive 7 bands in each module very soon as I have no other option.

God bless
