Hi, I am new to this forum and I am wondering if anyone has graduated from mcc in lowell the 2 year rn program. Also if anyone is in the middle of the program or applying for it. I am applying for 2010 evening program. I completed my prereqs already. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts bout it. Also what is a good bsn program to follow through with. Please reply with any thoughts or comments. Thanks. Erin

Thank you so much! I am so happy & excited, I can't even describe. Orientation is in May! It doesn't say anything about uniforms & such.. I am sure we will find things like that out at the orinetation. I am also not sure about when we can get our books, im assuming after we regisered for our classes. I will let you know when I find out more info about the ACTUALLY PROGRAM. The letter came in a big envelope and you have to return a form accepting your spot within 2 weeks, send in a copy of HS dipolma, get CPR cert. by March 12th, complete student health form by Jun & attend an the "registration meeting" in May. yaayah. Can't wait to find out everything & enroll in nur classes finallly.

Do you know of any good financial aid resources? I am looking to apply to some/any!.. Thanks ... Today was my last day of orientation at the hospital. It was a longg week, filled with a lot of info. I am excited to start training! (: Any luck with the job search for you? I know its tough right now.

Subsidized loans are good to use. I used loans from sallie mae which is a good student loan lender. Also mcc has scholarships for nursing students as well so check that out. You may be able to get ur cpr cert through lahey since u are an employee there now. It has to be bls healthcare provider level. I'm glad u are doing well with ur job. I'm sure there was a lot of info to learn. That would be great to become a tech on your floor as well. That will come in handy for nursing school. Will you be working full time when you start school? I have not heard back from lahey or any other hospital I have applied to. It is definitely rough trying to find a healthcare job now. I will keep the search up tho... u must be wishing it was may already so u can have ur orientation. How exciting! What classes are you taking this spring semester? Medical terminology is always a good class to take. I took that at mcc a few years ago. It was helpful and real easy. ;)

Thank You, I will have to look into those loans.. Right , I am going to try to do CRP through Lahey. I know they offer it once a month or something. I will be working 32 hours now but once school starts in fall ill prob do 20 or something. Hopefully I will be able too w.out going crazy ha.. I am not taking any classes spring semester, I just finished Microbio today..which was my last non nur class. So im just going to work until FALLL. Are you taking Micro anytime soon? Goodluck w the job search hope it comes through for ya!

I think I may take micro in the summer. U will have a well deserved rest then from now till sept. Enjoy it cuz you'll be busy busy with nursing classes! hopefully I can get in on 2011 class. U will be a year ahead of me by then! Just think next year at this time ypou will be with the first semester. I heard the first and third semesters are the hardest.. don't know how that is determined tho. Well 5 months till may, and 9 months till sept. It will go by quick :) I saw a cool first year nursing student planner at barnes and noble. It has an organized section for school stuff, then some sections with info related to the first year of nursing. It looked cool... did u tell mcc u work at lahey yet?

That good. I actually really liked Mircobio. It was hard, but labs were actually interesting & class. My prof. was cool (I took it in Bedford though.) Thanks , Yes I feel this break is a good thing.. to relax, work , get experience before NURSING classes (: everything happens for a reason! I am sure this FALL is going to be the hardest semester yet, but I am SO ready I have waited so long for this , as YOU CAN RELATE! that is so cool about B&N! I am def. going to have to see if I can find that planner, I love planners ha. Thanks! i e-mailed human resources to tell then I work at Lahey & go to MCC. But since i already got into fall I dont think it matters?..

Thanks 4 the advice.... I have a while to go but soon it will be my turn! Well I wish u luck with ur job and school and let's keep in touch still. I will let u know if anything good comes my way as well.... that planner had a reddish maroon cover. I actually plan on getting it as well. Do u have any friends joining u in the nursing program next fall? Well have a nice weekend and enjoy the huge snowstorm that's gonna hit us this weekend!!

I too, am also on the waiting list of qualified applicants. Application was complete at the beginning of march 2009. I hope I get in for fall 2010.

Hi james, did u apply for days, or evening/weekend? I know they have started sending out letters already. I am waitlisted for evening program and I ws told its a 2yr wait. U should call nursing admissions and give them ur info and see what they say. That's what I did. Have u completed all prereqs?

Erindel- Thanks about the planner, I am def. going to try to find it! I actually met a girl at Orintation at Lahey who was on the waitlist at MCC. We both got our letters the same day for FALL. BUT... She was on stand by (i guess 3 people are on stand by per semster just incase someone doesnt accept , or doesnt end up doing it/droppping out etc) so she found out she is starting in JAN Now. im Jealous lol. but still so excited for fall & focusing on working..

James--My application was complete around march09 also. I got a letter last week for my acceptance for Fall2010. Have you recieved a letter? Days or nights & weekends? Goodluck.

Wow erin, that girl got lucky! She is starting in like 4 weeks! Well I think ur pretty lucky too... I wish I was able to start in sept. Well my turn will come, hopefully in 2011 rather than 2012... that's cool u have someone at work with the same situation as you though. Its cool to meet people who are in the same boat and accepted into the same program. Was that girl a tech or a secretary? Wow imagine I got called off standby for next fall! That's a dream..... well I hope u have a nice holiday and talk to u soon:)
