Married nurses.........

My husband and I are both RN's, and we hope to travel together in the future. One of our dreams is to find summer positions somewhere at the beach and rent a house for an extended vacation with the kids. That's just one of our dreams..........

We're not yet at a place in our lives where this is realistic so we haven't done alot of research, but I'd like to hear if any other RN couples out there are really able to do this together successfully.

I have known people who have done that and it worked pretty good for them. I think its all about what specialty you and your husband work, and if there is enough of a demand that you can end up at the same hospital. Or at least the same city. One of you could get the house paid for with their assignment and the other could collect the housing allowance (usually around 1000-1800$/month, depending on area) AND be rent free. That would be pretty sweet. My husband is thinking of going back for nursing and I would love to get to travel together.

my husband and i are both nurses, and took one travel assignment together. we worked for the same company and landed assignments in the same hospital, same unit. if i had to do it again (and the plan is to do so when the teenager is launched) i'd go through two separate companies. one of us could get housing through the job and the other get a housing stipend. we're both icu/dialysis nurses, so there's plenty of demand.

dh and i have worked in the same unit since we met in 1990 . . . not everyone wants to do it that way. if you go to a big enough place, you can get assigments in different units or even different hospitals. i've known three couples that traveled that way. good luck!

That sounds promising. We only have the 1st of 7 off to college so we still have a little time, but hopefully one day. Thanks
