Does anyone know how to get start with doing nursing on a ship with merchant seamen???

As a matter of fact, I do. First you have to go to the TSA and get a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identity Credential). Nobody ships on US-flag vessels in any capacity without this. TSA: Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) can give you the info on how to go about that.
Apply to the various shipping lines.
It will help--maybe even be essential-- to have an adult nurse practitioner credential, since you will be out there without medical back-up (in most cases).
