hey everyone. if there is anyone whom is starting this fall or who has started recently at one of the maricopa county nursing programs maybe you could answer this question....
1. did they assign you homework before semester even began?
2. what was orientation like? how many days? hours?
3. if you have already started semester, whats it like so far?
thanks ahead of time for any input

1. no, but skim through your a&p notes and micro notes to refresh yourself
2. orientation is just what it says it is: an introduction to what is expected of you and is one day for class, two days for clinicals
3. its no different than any other college program, do your homework, don't fall behind, and do what your instructors tell you to and you'll be fine.
If anyone wants more information, I suggest performing a search as this information is covered Ad nausem throughout the board.
I'm sure you were there at one point too, excited that you got in, but nervous as to what to expect because everyone has their own opinions. I did do the search and this is one of the threads posted and there were no answers. Sorry to be of such a bother to you.
Don't make assumptions as to what I was like before I started nursing school. Instead, take the bits of advice that was posted and use it to your best ability; afterall, I'm the only one so far who's taken the time to answer the posted questions.
As for your searching capabilities: you must have missed the following threads:
https://allnurses.com/forums/f213/what-s-nursing-school-like-96501.html
https://allnurses.com/forums/f213/what-expect-nursing-school-136083.html

https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/what-can-i-expect-154943.html
Thank you for your advice.
However, my searching capabilities must not be all that bad considering all but one of threads you pulled up are over two-three years old.

Ok, I'll play your game.
Let's start critical thinking: if there are four threads on the same topic and only one has recent posts. Bearing in mind that there is an entire section on a forum for students/pre-nursing students and a recent thread regarding what nursing school is like was completely ignored, what could be the reasoning for the lack of posts?
A. People have already asked the kinds of questions posted.
B. These questions have been answered.
C. Nursing school hasn't changed.
D. All of the above.
Bonus question:
If someone has taken the time to answer your questions seeking information/advice in detail, is it right/justified/polite to complain about the information/advice given?
Answer: No
If you wish to continue this line of discussion or have any further questions, feel free to pm me.

Holy Crap, give it a rest.
I am starting the mcc program in the fall. Unfortunatly, the orientation isn't until Aug 19th. So no homework as of yet. In fact I was hoping to getting a packet from mcc concerning the health paperwork that must be turned in, but nothing yet.
I too am scanning over my a&p notes and old tests and quizzes. As for micro???? I hate micro. Is there really that much micro in the nursing program? If so, I'm hiring a tutor or a stunt double for that portion of the class. :)
I'm pretty much in the dark right now as far as class schedule, textbooks, homework, and everything else. When I find out though I will try to get back on here and post something.
Peace be among you all.
Congrats on getting in!!
:DIt's an amazing feeling!

Yes, just some miscommunication. Amb, feel free to pm any questions you have about EMCC, that's where I attend.
Seriously?? Do you like the program at EMCC? I must admit that I am way excited to go because its only 15 minutes from my house!! I thought for sure that I'd be driving to BFE to go to nursing school, but I lucked out!
