Hello!

I am about to submit my application for Marian University in Indianapolis IN CRNA program. Has anyone been asked to interview yet?

He was very nice and flexible since he knew a lot of us were working full time. It wasn’t a bad class, not easy but reasonable for people who work full time.

Oh okay.  Was it a 2x a week class?  The class supposedly ends on May 6th and the CRNA School starts on May 8th LOL

That sounds good. Thank you

Does anyone know if anyone that was waitlisted has gotten in yet? I wonder how many are on the list. Good luck again to everyone that is waitlisted!

Wondering the same ... still patiently waiting to hear something about the waitlist status!

My wife and I are moving from out of state, she's a nurse too and she's trying to figure out which Hospitals to apply to. I found a couple threads on here about Indy hospitals but they're all pre-pandemic. Does anyone have any strong opinions one way or the other about any hospitals in Indy? She's mostly worked ER, OR, and pre-op/phase 2.

I always enjoyed working for IU Health. I worked in the OR at IU North in Carmel. The nurses and docs were great. Minimal call which was awesome! I highly recommend!

Don't know much about the hospitals myself. Any ideas on where you guys are looking to live? I'm not from area as well and the relocation part is a little stressful with only a few months until starting

Maybe someone who lives there can verify but it looked like North of the city center is a bit swankier and as you go east and west around downtown there's a hundred and four turn of the century homes that were recently remodeled by someone who watches too much HGTV, lot of beige walls and grey laminate floors. The houses around them can look pretty run down based on the Google street view, but who knows how up to date that is. It seems like the consensus from my research and local news articles is that Indy has some of the same big city problems as anywhere else I've lived, but you don't hear about people defecating in the street or giant garbage piles and stores being robbed every other day like I saw in parts of Seattle.

I don't know how I did this but

I was raised in Indy and worked there until traveling and as far as hospitals go IU Health will work you hard for little pay but it's great experience for school and I loved the people. Eskenazi is a good hospital also but has a large psych/inmate population which comes with its own challenges. They don't have many ICU beds so you float to stepdown a lot. St Vincent has more of a bougie pt population but still like any hospital. It depends on what area you work in.

As far as the area, there's pockets of really good and not so good all over the city.
If you want to be close to Marian I would go north of 38th street if you're going east of campus. Everything north of 465 is nice I guess it's more suburban. Broad ripple is a really cool area that I am biased towards. And yeah there was literally a show on HGTV in bates Hendricks south of downtown called good bones ?

I moved to the Indy area in 2020 and have worked at IU Methodist. I agree with the posts above about each hospital having pros and cons. It kinda depends on how much you want to see/do and what pay you feel is needed. I live in Whitestown (about 15-20 minutes from campus) and enjoy the area. If you choose to live downtown I would suggest driving the area first. Broad ripple is a popular area but filled with college kids in my opinion. Carmel/Fishers/Zionsville are more expensive but offer great schools and plenty of stuff to do. Whitestown/Avon/Brownsburg are a little bit less pricey but still full of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment as well as very safe feeling.

Does anyone know anything about Greenwood, IN? Looks like suburban areas, but hopefully safe and clean? I'm looking for a house in a good area, but yet still has restaurants/shopping/bars and things to do if that makes sense..
