alright guys and gals, so i been a nurse as a new grad in the CCU for a year now, and i know im not ready, but i am planning to eventually travel. the problem is i work in the suburbs of New Orleans. i am told that the hospital i work at isnt the best for having high acuity. i never had a IABP and i only had 2 PA caths since i been there. im just worried about traveling and jumping in over my head. so my question is.... should i continue to work here for another year and then travel, or move to another hospital in the city and get the experience and then go? i guess the main question is do yall (you guys) think i can travel if i stay where im at for 2 years?

You can definatly travel with what you have but I think it'd be a good idea to get some more intensive experience; not just with the view of travelling but with experience in general.
Usually if your working agency they won't give you the pt's with lots of machinery if they can help it as even if your used to IABPs, heamofilters etc each brand varies, which you wouldn't be trained on.
Good luck!
