how many holidays per year and holiday pay

Published

I am just curious about holiday pay at other facilities.

The hospital I work at considers there to be 6 holidays per year. Christmas day, New Years day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving.

They do not pay us more for holidays worked. We can claim an extra 8 hours PTO, but it comes out of PTO already accumulated we get no extra. :angryfire

Just wondering how this compares to other hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

Also do the holidays vary for night shift versus days or pms?

Thanks

my hospital (that i wont work at until may) pays an additional 8 dollars an hour for holidays. i think there are 6 holidays, but i can't say for sure. but then again, you get 5.3 weeks off per year as paid time off. (sick days, vacation, whatever)
