Yes, I'd like to know for anyone out there that's a first time LVN. How many orientation days did you have when first starting out in your job? My DON said that if I needed more time in orientation that I could have more time. I've been on 4 then off 3. This week a total of 5 days with 2 days off in between. So its true the more orientation days the better???

With my first LVN job, I had 8 hours of orientation before being cut loose to work on my own. I didn't have 8 days. It was only 8 hours!

At the hospital I work at, orientation for an LPN is usually 6 weeks AND full-time. But it depends on the person's experience and how they're doing w/orientation.

Absolutely the more orientation days the better.
Try and get as much out of it as you can, but if you think you are going to need more time, just ask for it. I know that all places love "fast learners", but you are being entrusted with someone's health and well being, so if you need a few more days, just go ahead and take'em.

My first spot was LTC. Very short orientation. Now I'm in a hospital. I am DYING to be cut loose!
