Hey all, a question for you: is CNA training mandatory in any of the states (MN especially), or is it possible to test out without taking classes? I know some employers will do OTJ training, but require a minimum number of hours before the employee can test out. I'm not sure if that translates to minimum school hours, too.
Thanks!

Well I work in NJ and back in the olden days (60 and 70's) you were allowed to work as a CNA with only on the job training but now you are required to have a current CNA license to work at a LTC facility but all you need is experience to work in a hospital.

I worked as an aide (no CNA certification) at a group home for the developmentally disabled. I know this probably doesn't answer your question adequately, though.
