Recently I received my state board of nursing's little magazine. In it there was a small article stating that all licensed nursing personnel were REQUIRED to give the board of nursing their employers name, address and phone number, and had only 30 days to report any changes. I contacted the BON and they sent me to a web page where apparently I must do just that.
There were no notices to that effect sent to individuals, anyway, I didn't get one.
Is that legal? Do other professions have to register whom they work for at all times? Do other states require nurses to do so? This seems very intrusive to me...but maybe it's just me.
(BTW, this is the state of Oregon, so any Oregon nurses out there...this is apparently a requirement now!)

yes it's legal.. and they ask you that when you renew your license.. they ask how many hours you work and the name and address of where you work... they have everyright to know where you work..

How intrusive and how unnerving.

Not only can they demand that, they can monitor your employment, force testing, force psychological evaluations, and frankly, do whatever they want. (I am not being paranoid - you can look it up.)
you betcha !! they give you the license they can take it away !! yes they can do all this and more.. they are not here for us they are here for the patients .. they can do whatever they see fit to be sure the pt has a high standard of care.. they donot care about us.. they care for the patient...
Well, there are steps over the edge as well. Judgment calls are made by the boards that remain dubious (by my perspective).
There seems to be an ongoing leniency for nurses taking both Class I & II drugs. Has anyone else seen that?

Most boards require that information so they can confirm that you're actually working to keep your license active. I have to fill that out every time I renew my license.
Most other professions don't necessarily have licences that have to be renewed regularly. Those that do have their own requirements to be met.
