I will be starting a BSN prgram in Jan 09. Currently I do work full time and have been going to school full time and have been managing it quiet well. Last semester I took on 19hrs while working and made the dean's list, ALL GLORY BE TO GOD! I wish to move out of my parents house into my own apartment by sept this year. I am at a level where i am uncomfortable with my parents taking care of me and i am feeling that my self actualization is becoming stagnate. Now my job has been extremely flexible with me as far as going to school and allowing me to make up hours at work as needed. However, once i begin the program in jan, i plan on working only as i can. school is going to come first. i don't know what to expect from the program, and i may not be able to handle it with a full time job as i have been advised so many times. so my plan b is to pay the bills with financial aid and student loans. my question is, will it be wise for me to go ahead and move out and take loans if needed to pay my bills, or do i stick it out at my parent's house?
please i need some been there done that advise.
thank you

I would suggest that you stay with your parent until the program is over. if you decide to move out...it will take away from your studies bcuz you will have more responsiblities.
I wish you well in your decision.

i say stay with ur parents less bills less stress . you are going to need all your attention and focus on school and who better to help you do that than your parents their support is priceless and it will keep you on point.

i would stay with your parents. the less loan money you have to have the better off you will be in the long run. my firend who is a level 3 in a bsn school has no time to be able to run her house and work and school. so she moved back into her moms house. be nice to your self and stay put. you will thank your self later for it.
good luck with school.

Definitely stay with your folks. As it is with school and work, you won't be home that much anyway, especially if you study at school.
Believe me it is tough to go to school full-time and work full-time. I've had to cut down to two days a week for school and every check is stretched to the max.
You'll have plenty of time to get your own place once you have your BSN and you'll be able to move into a nicer place than one you would probably be able to afford now.

I think that it really depends. I just moved out from my moms house a few months ago. I know it will be harder money wise, but it had a horrible studying atmosphere. 2 of my 3 sisters and my grandparents lived there. I shared a room with one of my sisters so it was horrible trying to study at all. Not to mention it was hard to tear myself away from talking to them when I got home at night. Since I moved out I went from a B/C student to an A student. I am a lot more likely to even get in the program now. I know you said that you are a good student, so maybe this doesn't apply to you. However, if you find it getting hard to get some peace and quiet I would go ahead and do it. Otherwise, it might be better to just stay home for awhile. If not until the end of nursing school, at least until the end of this recession we are having. Otherwise you might just end up too stressed. Good luck on whatever you choose! PS- I know the itch to move out the first time is pretty strong, but you can fight it if you think thats whats best for you!

If you don't want to live with your parents, worry-free, during NS, I'm sure there are lots of other people here who would volunteer to do it. :)

Seriously, though, NS sounds like it's going to be difficult enough as it is. I wouldn't rush out and get an apartment if you don't have to. I know that at 22, you're ready for your own space, but I'm 28 with a husband and children, and if I could move back in with my parents, just to save money, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If it's a matter of getting your studying done, which doesn't seem to be a problem for you, try the library or a coffee shop.
If you're dead set on moving out, just make sure the place is cheap and small, since small means less to clean, less to heat and/or cool, and less room for a friend to come try to crash on your couch:D.
Good luck with your decision.
