How would an incomplete spontaneous abortion (miscarriage in which not all the products of conception are expelled) be treated at 10 weeks? what about 16 weeks? Why?
I have an answer to this question in my book, just wondering what others have learned, or what other texts say. I've tried doing a search but I'm mostly getting results about induced/intentional abortion.
Thanks to anyone who has an answer/link/reference.

google is your friend
Thanks, but I've already come across those results and they weren't very helpful. there are a few anecdotes about miscarriage at 16 weeks, but that's about it. lmgtfy was cute like 2-3 yrs ago but now it's just a lame attempt at snark.
Anyway, my book says that in the case of incomplete abortion at 14 weeks or greater a D&C is unsafe to perform because of bleeding risk and that prostaglandins or oxytocin would be used to help the uterus expel the contents. Can anyone confirm this? There are few studies about spontaneous abortion in the 2nd trimester that I can find. My text doesn't use citations so I can't check the reference.
It was not an attempt at being snarky. If I am going to snark there will be no doubt that you are being snarked at.......the message would be perfectly clear. It wouldn't be subtle nor cute.........You came here remember??? By the way, I actually think LMGTFY is a useful engine ....for many reasons.
Since I am the only one who answered...good luck with your search. Have you tried the OB nurses forum?

well i said i had already searched. i'd try the OB forum but i've already put in way too much time looking for this answer... i was going to argue a question i got wrong on a quiz but it's not worth the effort for just a fraction of a point on my final average. Thanks anyway, though. IMO the use of LMGTFY should be saved for more obvious applications, for maximum effect. Such as when the question being asked presents a page full of hits, all containing the answer. If you google it yourself and don't see a clear cut answer, you can probably assume the person asking the question already googled and that's why they're asking the question on a forum.
