Male scrubs?

Nurses Men

Where do you guys purchase your scrubs from? I can't find any places online that are suitable for men.

I prefer scrubs which material is similar to ones you would wear in the O.R.

Thanks!

Our ORs and L&D stock Fashion Seal scrubs in jade and ceil blue. I've swiped several pair and wear them all the time. I think http://www.uniformadvantage.com stocks them. Check out the nursing gear/scrubs forum for more answers.

Aviator scrubs, http://www.aviatorscrubs.com. Bombproof. Manly. Even I can't wreck them.

Landau cargo pants, have tons of pockets and both elastic and drawstring. Allheart.com has fairly decent selection of guy scrubs

I spent a bit of time and money on outfitting myself in scrubs before I started my med-surg job. for me, its about lotsa pockets and a leg inseam that I don't have to alter. I'm not tall -- only 5'7"ish, and I hate having to buy bottoms w/ long inseams that need to be hemmed, and then having the crotch of my scrubs at mid-thigh.

The solution I found (and so far I love them -- comfy) were Dickies cargo pants -- a cargo pocket on each leg, two 'slash' (normal) pockets, a rather-useless shallow pocket on the right leg, but w/ a 28" leg inseam ('Petite' size -- yeah yeah, no one knows 'cept you guys) that I don't hafta mess w/, elastic at the back waist and a drawstring at the front. They seem perfect. I stuff my left leg pocket w/ 5-6 10mm saline flushes that I always need/use and it doesn't get in the way. 50601 is the item number and they're only about $16 per.

My school nursing uniform top had 3 pockets -- 2 side pockets and a breast pocket... which is a non-existent configuration for retail scrub tops. It seems that ya have a choice of 2 side pockets, or 1 breast pocket, or no pockets at all. I stuck w/ the same brand as the bottoms so the colors match. also rather inexpensive.

I ordered from LifeUniform.com and AllHeart.com after I had two order errors w/ both shipments from Life Uniform. AllHeart shipped more quickly, but still made a shipment error, which they worked quickly to correct after I called them.

What kind of material does Aviator use? They kinda look like flight suit material, I don't want something that stiff/rough (next to my smooth, silky skin :chuckle).

Thanks

Aviator will send you fabric samples if you request them (they ship them with all orders). They make a standard and lightweight material, both are easy on the wearer and hold up well under use. They get better with age. I have both, and like them a lot.

The regular weight fabric is almost like a light canvas when you first receive them - quite stiff, but two washes with fabric softener and they're good to go, and I agree: they age well, becoming more soft with every washing.

I have Aviators in both materials and like them both, but probably lean a little towards the lightweight fabric. I tend to wear the regular weight fabrics in the winter, lightweight in the summer; it's a shame the lightweight only comes in a select few colours, but the regular weight comes in a rainbow of about 20 shades.

To a previous poster re: pockets: the Aviator tops come in 6 different styles, from no pockets to 6 pockets plus additional pen pockets. Same with the pants, which BTW can be cutom ordered in any inseam you want. Yes, you pay for it but they're worth it for the quality investment.

X2 for Dickies. I work in Home Care and am in and out of the car all day. I like the Dickies because they last. That little pocket fits a pager perfectly! You can order specific inseam sizes by you usually have to talk to a rep. The fabric is regular wt cotton/poly blend and comfotable to wear. Since no one sells Angelica anymore, I wear Landau tops 1 pocket reversible. Comfy and tough. I get them thru Jasco Uniform Co. Really nice perple, never had a problem. They run sales frequently and the quality is great

Until I graduate, I'm using my hospitals' monogrammed ones that are fairly unisex. I would avoid these if at all possible as just like they make females look like amorphous blobs, they do so with men as well. Typically, to get the pants to a length suitable, it requires a waste size most often associated with clown pants. The shirt fits at the shoulders and the back, but the abdominal region can hide a small immigrant family. And no, it doesn't work very well tucked in, as the back will come untucked within minutes or your pants will slide down exposing boxers.

But I get them out of my paycheck at a nominal price and I don't plan to buy anything fancier until next May as I'll have to change color (we have color codes) anyways.

In the past, I've worn aviator's pants in the ambulance and they're quite nifty, if not a bit heavy (I live in Houston-- I'd wear scrub shorts if I could!).

Landau for Men is all I wear. Tons of pockets and extremely durable.
