Male OB nurse

I have aplied to an OB position on the OB department. The manager hinted that they would not hire a male. I think is discrimination. I have great disire to work in the department. What do you think? would you hire a male nurse for your ob unit?

As a male OB nurse, I advise you pursue this with whatever resources you have available. I was fortunate to have a Director of Women's health as a reference, but you shouldn't have to prove anything to anyone. Most OB docs you work with are males, and its only awkward if you make it so. I walk in every morning and introduce myself as their nurse. I have never once had a patient or family member think twice about it. I love what I do, and have a great relationship with my female counterparts, patients, and physicians. Please don't let this go. If this is what you enjoy, don't go down without a fight.
