Male nurse

Published

Hello all! I'm a 21 year old male looking to go into the nursing profession, and hopefully this summer or fall I will be accepted into a program. I'm looking into Lawson states rn/lpn, Wallace rn/lpn, bevill rn, gasden state rn, jeffstate rn ( and lpn if they offer it, because they're currently in the deciding stages on seeing if they will discontinue it) and West Alabama and program. My question is in two parts. Number 1- is nursing really a good field for a male to get into? Are employers "jumping" for male candidates like everyone is saying? What's Secondly- which school is better as far as nursing schools go? Because I've been reading that there isn't really a nursing "shortage anymore. Is the job outlook for a male nurse better than one for a female? Can anyone confirm this? I've heard pretty good things about all of them- but I've heard Jeff state is the best and Wallace comes into a very close second! Help!

hospitals want males nurses. i got lots of job offers before i even graduated.

Not sure what city you are in, but when my class graduated back in May there were some guys in my class that couldn't buy an interview. One got so desperate he was about to go back to driving a truck just for the income. I am not certain that all of the people in my class have found employment.
