Making up hours in NJ

I am a UK trained nurse who is leaving to return home to the states in December. I have completed my CVS through CGFNS and submitted my application to the BON. I understand this takes a few months to process so I am jumping the gun and assuming I will need to make up hours. Can anyone tell me if they have successfully done so in the state of New Jersey? I'll begin contacting Universities as soon as possible but thought it would be good to hear from someone on here.

NJ universities/nursing schools would be very difficult as they don't even accept transfers from other schools in state depending on your area(s) of deficit. Some programs integrate components throughout the curriculum. Many nursing programs are not authorized to accept international students (if you are not a citizen?

I'm a permanent resident so I would not be classified as international.

It's near impossible to even transfer nursing schools never mind take individual courses. The private universities (over $300 credit hour like Seton Hall, Monmouth, St. Peter',Georgian Court, College of St. Elizabeth, Felician) might be more likely to consider your situation than the state colleges/universities.

The NJ BoN lists all approved nursing programs you can contact the school nursing department directly regarding the classes that you think you may need. The east coast is an impacted area however not many nurses seeking make up courses like in California

Thanks for the advice. Can hours be made up in other states, like New York, if I find it impossible to find a college to take me on? My home is not far away from New York City.

You'd have to check with the BoN once assessed. Most of the NY/NJ/PA metro area is similarly impacted with nursing education.
