I, too, have major reservations about any mid-level provider having complete independence. I know my limitations and have no problem recognizing that I am NOT a physician.

Many states have and will make it a crime for a doctoral-prepared APN to call themselves "Doctor" in any clinical situation. One must be aware of individual state laws.
