Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

I passed the 3 requirements (tor, resume and board rating) on Oct 1, 2012. I did a follow up on Oct 14 and the guy said that if I did not receive a notification within 2weeks then it means I didn't make it. I have not received any call either. My board rating is high and my school is among the top too but maybe since I don't have any hospital experience it may be grounds to not consider me as a cetn candidate. I really don't know. I just hope and pray for a miracle that I just didn't make the 1st batch for 2013 and would be considered for the 2nd batch. I've been an RN since 2010 and still... :(

I am batch 2010. we have same experience.. i think i passed my reqs same date, i have 1yr clinical experience but until now i didnt receive any call or sms. i think they pick applicants randomly.. lets keep our faith.

Hi. I just received a message from them stating that the training will start on January 21, 2013. I was also informed that I must pass the requirements on January 17, 2013 and further instructions about the training will be given. Just to share, I was a bit surprised on their sudden message (though I'm also happy because I've been waiting for this for so long, I'm batch 2010). My dilemma is that I still have two weeks more on my current employment. Actually, I'm just rendering my 30 days from my notice of resignation and my last day will be on February 1. So I really don't know what to do. Any advice? Thank you. I guess, I'll just see my batchmates on Jan. 17!! Goodluck to us!

Hi. I searched the web and found this thread about the CETN program in makati med. May i ask, are they still open for application this January 2013 for this program? thanks!

Last time i checked last application months were oct 2012. Better visit makati med or call them to inquire..

good day. Just to give you an update guys, CETN have been replaced by a new program which is COPN or also know as Comprehensive Orientation Program for Nurses. Basically those two were just the same, the only difference is that in this new program we will be undergoing one (1) month of training instead of three (3) months (CETN), and another thing is that with this new program we are not going to pay anything (which is a good thing :) ) As of now we are the first batch of this particular program and earlier this morning we had our first day of training. with regards to the application, i'm not sure if they are still accepting applicants but if i'm not mistaken i have seen some nurses still submitting their resume. Try submitting it personally at HR, anyways there is no harm in trying, right? :)

So.. Good Luck to all of us! God Bless :)

Thank you for this info. Godbless you for helping others out. Advanced congratulations to you :D i hope you become a staff nurse immediately after training!

Hi EPISIOTOMY! How was your first week of training? :)

from what I heard training here lasts for 1 month and they dont charge for training fees unlike before. not bad.

I have a question to those currently undergoing training. Ahm, were you asked to buy their uniform or are you just using your college uniform/any nurse's uniform? I belong in the 2nd batch and I think we'll start this Feb but I don't know if I should buy or just use my college duty uniform. And another thing, how is the training, so far? THANKS! :)

Hi chibichibi! May I know when did you pass your application?

I passed mine late September. I could have been included in the first batch but I had some problems with my medical.
