I have a chance to work at a Magnet Hospital. Does anyone work for one & have you really noticed a difference in how you're treated or the working conditions? Given the chance, would you work at a Magnet Hosp. vs Non-Magnet Hosp. Which is better & why?Thank you.

Mar 14, 2006 i have a chance to work at a magnet hospital. does anyone work for one & have you really noticed a difference in how you're treated or the working conditions? given the chance, would you work at a magnet hosp. vs non-magnet hosp. which is better & why?thank you.this has been addressed before in other threads, but i'll bite. i've worked in several magnet hospitals, and in each and every one i've noticed that while there's a whole lot of time, effort and money spent on recruiting new nurses, barely any on retention. this has had a negative impact on retention and on nurse satisfaction. this in turn, i believe, has had a negative impact on patient care. what i suggest is that you look for a hospital that treats its senior employees well. you'll have less turnover, more senior employees to mentor you, better patient care and better patient satisfaction. if that hospital happens to be a magnet hospital, that's a bonus!ruby
