MA/NH students here???

Specializes in Urgent Care.

Hello all,

Are there any nursing student enrolled in EC here form MA or NH?

Thanks

Hey polywerx,

My name is Maureen, I live in Middleboro, MA, about 15 miles northwest of Cape Cod canal. Prior to this, we lived in East Derry, NH. There are lots of New England Excelsior students on this site. Even better, as you get into the EC program and check in often on this distance learning site, you will meet people all over the country.

I just finished my last nursing concepts exam!!!!! EC changed the name from Nursing Concepts to something like Health Assessment. I am 51 years old, mom of teenage boy, been an LPN for 2 years in LTC and sub-acute care. Welcome to you and ask any questions that you need or can't find the answers to on this wonderful site. :nurse:

Hi lpnmaura,

I have taken 1 CLEP and 7 EC tests so far and have 3 more to go before I can apply for my CPNE (hopefully in December). I am currently studying for Health difference-Life Span 2 which I believe is NC 5.

It wasn't until this month did I learn about allnurse.com and found all the resources and group discussions. Boy, wish I knew about this way before but I am sure glad I found them now. Since I have joined, I finally feel like I am not alone...

I worked in Camb, MA and moved to NH. When I decided to do the EC nursing program I changed jobs to Manchester, NH. This has been a though year so far but I am getting it done!!!

You said you finished your NC exams; have you applied for your CPNE yet? If so, were are you applying, Albany, NY?

Thanks for any info.

Hey neighbor! I am just waiting on getting CPNE eligibilty, going for New York state, Albany, Utica, Syracuse, whichever comes first. Feel free to pm me anytime.

Couple of questions for anyone pls..

Has anyone taken Lynne's Clinicial workshop? How soon before the actual CPNE did you take it? Trying to figure work time off....

Has anyone bought the skill kit w/simulation wound that EC put together at Coursey Enterprises? Wondering if it's worth buying...

Did anyone have trouble getting a job after graduating EC and passing the NCLEX?

Thanks much

Hey Polywerx, I took Lynne's workshop in August in Charlotte. It was great

in that it really narrowed down what you need to do for the CPNE. It was especially good for nurses/medics who don't work bedside and do careplans and documentation every day. It was a long 19 hour drive back and forth from the Cape to Charlotte. If you can't squeeze that time out, look at another workshop that is given in Wilkes-Barre, PA, not too far, took me about 5 hours I think. The address is necpneworkshop.com and is run by a woman named Tina. I was going to take this in November but can't afford it now. I will cancel my seat there on Monday, so if you want to get in and it is full, check back Monday afternoon.

The EC wound is ok, you could make your own according to Lynn's recipe, or check the ebay ec sites and buy it there. Off to work now, hope the info is helpful.
