LVN's-how do you find a job after grad?

Published

Hi there,

I am about to apply for my local CC LVN program. I have been working on all my pre-req's for the past year and always thought I'd do the ASN route. I recently changed my mind though and am doing the LVN class. My question is, how do you find work after you graduate? I know with the RN classes here, most were recruited right out of school for jobs and internships. Is that how it works with the LVNs too?

My story is similar to yours. To find a job I plan to do what I can to make a good impression and network during clinicals. Get a summer job or internship as a nurse tech. During final semester come up with list of potential employers and prepare for job search. I may start applying for jobs before I take the nclex or I may wait until after I have my license - haven't decided that far down the road yet. Either way I plan to keep my feelers out. The school may have some job placement leads but don't sit around waiting for employers to send recruiters to campus. If you can find a job that way that's kool but it's your job to keep your eyes and ears open and your feelers out there.

How do the LVN's that work in Dr's offices get their jobs?

The college I attend hosted a health fair two months ago. We signed up with companies/hospitals/agencies we were interested in. They requested our graduation date and said they will contact us one month prior to graduation to begin work as a GVN as soon as possible!
