LVNs @ Children's Medical Center/Medical City?

U.S.A. Texas

Does anyone work for Children's or Medical City? Do you know what the starting salary is for LVNs?

Do these hospitals even hire GVNs?

It seems harder for LVNs to get into hospitals.

Specializes in LTC.

I am also wondering about this too, as I am graduating this month. I have been looking online and haven't found any openings posted. It's pretty discouraging...

Today, I decided to call Children's and ask. We will see if they call me back with an answer.

I can help you with the Children's question. Unfortunately, they do not hire LVNs anymore. There are a few left who are still there, but they aren't hiring any new LVNs, only RNs. Sorry!!

Two questions since I don't want to have to start a new thread.

My 15-month-old daughter was at Children's overnight this past weekend S/P BMG and Adenoidectomy. I was VERY PLEASED with the care she received and the whole hospital in general (the playrooms, the train, the library, the arboretum, the physicians we saw)...so much that I want to consider working there.

She had two caregivers per shift, a nurse (RN), and a Tech. I was wondering if the Techs are CNAs....because I have a CNA license and would love to do three 12 hour shifts on the weekends while I'm in school. I couldn't ever figure out if the techs there are CNAs because they removed her hep-lock before discharge and check her breath and bowel sounds which I'm not allowed to do at the facility where I work.

Also, would anyone happen to know the starting pay for their techs?

Jared, I PM'd you on this one.
