LVN Starting Pay Amarillo???

Published

Hi,

I have been trying to find out the starting pay for lvn's in Amarillo. I have had no luck calling around. Human resources won't release that information. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The LVN starting pay in Amarillo is $10 to $11 hourly. In addition to the crappy pay, LVN jobs are hard to find in Amarillo.

Thanks for the reply. I will be going towards ADN instead of LVN. It would not be a pay increase for me to do that instead of my current job. I have been researching this for some time and had not been able to make up my mind. I start classes next week for my pre req's. Thanks again! :)

The RN salaries are quite low in Amarillo, too. Also, nursing jobs are scarce. RNs with experience in Amarillo earn an average of $16 to $17 hourly. I am a newer LVN in Fort Worth who earns more than that.

I will be graduating in December from an ADN program and BSA is paying $19 per hour to new grads, $2 night shift differential, $4 weekend differential (Fridays and Saturdays) and Northwest is offering $19.86/hr or $20.86 for Med Surg nurses, and the differentials are almost the same... I am unsure of what the VA is paying as of now...

I think that for LVNs NWTHS pays like $15-$16 and BSA pays $13-$15... hope that this helps- good luck........................................................

I live in a smaller town and work for the State of Texas and make more than that. WIth my overtime, I do not want to be an RN here...they get paid once amonth and dont get time and a half for over time...LVNs do...AND FOR ALL WHO SAY LVNs AREN'T NURSES...WRONG...WE ARE and usually do more work than the RNs here.

I work here in Dallas and make more than that, with my shift diff I make $30 and that is as an LVN. Also I don't know why anyone would think that LVN's are not nurses, I work our HI-OBS area and alot of the RN's at my work can't work there. I do everything they do exept charge at my place. Nothing against RN's I am planning to bridge over but I know LVN's who can work circles around RN's. People who say LVN's aren't nurses usually don't know what they are talking about or those who look down on LVN's and I don't have time for people like that, they usually have issues of their own, like being incompetent. Just my thought.

It's true. You, I, and the other LVNs often do more work than the RNs with which we work. Those of us with less years of nursing education usually end up doing more work. It's a basic, true principle. ;)
