Im wondering how competitive LVN programs are compared to RN. My goal is to go onto RN, but begin as an LVN first. I'm very aware of how impacted and competitive RN programs can be. Im currently in California and am half way through my pre reqs for RN. My plan is to begin as an LVN, and finish the rest of my pre reqs while working part time or on call as an LVN. I've heard once you are an LVN, RN programs are easier to get into (correct me if im wrong). I currently work as a CNA and Med Tech (both certifed) in a memory care facility. Do LVN programs look more at experience or transcripts or both? My GPA is average, 3.3. I do have all the LVN requirements and have been working in the healthcare field doing direct patient care for 3 years.
