hi guys. I live in cali, around Inland empire. I have decided to go to LVN school but i've been researching and i know community college is not as expensive but they have so much requirements, i can't wait that long. What schools do you know off that are good and NOT crazy expensive... like everest, concord, etc...? thanks guys

1st off, are you positive you cannot wait? Currently in this recession many LVN's are having trouble finding work. Nursing is NOT recession-proof life people seem to keep thinking.

Secondly, have you looked at ROP or adult school programs? They tend to have less requirements than a community college and are still cheap.

I went to Concorde in San Bernardino. I wouldn't recommend it, it was so much money, I did finish in 12 months, but that was in a different time (2004) when you could easily get a job. I have paid off my student loans related to my LVN, but I did not have too many bills after I finished my LVN program. The program cost 17k back when I went and now I hear it costs somewhere around 27k. You need to make sure you would be able to pay the student loan payments on your LVN salary. My payments were around 250/month I think between the different loans. so you figure 27k would be at least 350/month.

Just make sure you do your research before you commit to a program. bvnpt.ca.gov should have all accredited programs in california with their board pass rates.

first of all how much are u willing to spend?

i applied to a vocational program in la called marian college. I was told it was a good school and i have family friends who went there.

if u really cant wait that long then go for it. but if u dont wanna spend that much money well...its up to u if u wanna keep waiting.

the more i think about it, the more i agree with you. Private school will be expensive, and i can actually wait it out. Thanks for the advice about ROP/adult school programs...

The best option is ROP/adult school programs, they usually are best and least expensive. Next would be community college programs because they might give you a leg up on admissions to the RN program and/or provide courses that are transferrable when you want to start RN school. Proprietary schools are only useful when you don't have a better alternative available and can afford the added cost. Expect less than a stellar educational experience at these schools.
