LVN to RN in Southern California, I need advice..

Published

Hi everyone, I need your advice..

So, I am about to finish my LVN program in the beginning of 2020 and I am already looking into RN programs. I know some community colleges offer an LVN-RN bridge program, but I used to attend CC before I decided to drop and go to a private LVN school. I have a 2.8 overall GPA in CC and I received a C in Anatomy. I am scared to go back to CC after finishing up my LVN program and not getting into an RN program at a community college because of my GPA and the C I have in Anatomy. I have yet to take microbiology, physiology, chemistry, speech 101 and nutrition. I have an A in both psych 001 and 41. Getting a C in Anatomy killed my dreams to become an RN, hence the fact that I enrolled into a private school for LVN. I know it's very competitive! However, I am glad I stopped going to CC at the time I did because at the time I was going through something personal and didn't prioritize school at all and would have continued getting bad grades in my core science classes if I continued. Now that I am about to finish my LVN program, I am in a much better place and have time to prioritize CC and getting into an RN program. ALSO, I have been a CNA for 3 years at a SNF and now working at an acute hospital for almost a year now and when I apply to RN programs I will have LVN experience which I hope helps. SOOOOO, with all that being said.. here's my question.. do I still have hope in getting into an ADN program or LVN-RN program at a community college? and if not, what private schools do you recommend? I really hope going to private school is not my only option, but if so I would like to hear any suggestions. *by the way, this is assuming I receive an A in every single class I have left. What do you think?

Thank you to those of you guys who respond, I don't have any friends who I can get advice from.

You could work as an LVN and then start the other prerequisite courses at about four years out. Redo anatomy last after it has aged out to more than five years and requires a retake anyway.

Thank you for your advice, I was just thinking about that. I forgot that science classes expire after 5 years, so I'll just wait to retake anatomy and then do all the other classes meanwhile and work as an LVN and get experience.
