LVN to RN or Psych Tech to RN?

Nursing Students General Students

Info: I live in California, go to Mt. Sac College.

So I want to change my Major, which is Nursing to Pysch Tech or LVN. It feels like I'm not ready to go to the Nursing Program even though I'm still doing my General Education classes. Before I go to the Nursing program I want to have experience. I heard it's better to have experience before going to the program. (That is if I get accepted.)

What are the advantages and disadvantages of shifting my major in Pysch Tech or LVN?(Like the advantages and disadvantages of being a Pysch Tech or LVN?)

Which one out of the two have more opportunities?

Thank you in advance, and sorry if my questions are confusing.

Hi! I was told there is a CNA program at school. And they told me to volunteer in a hospital first then go to the program afterwards.

Volunteer in a hospital first...? Do you happen to know why they said that?

They said it's a good experience. If I do the CNA program and pass it, I could use the experience to get a CNA job. But they also told me that I don't have to volunteer. So I could just go straight to the CNA program. Also, volunteering gives me a couple of points for the nursing program because it's based of a Point System. Volunteering is part of it.

RN's and LVN's learn the same material! Nursing is a HARD but REWARDING career. Research the scope of a RN vs a LVN and educate yourself. I know how confusing it can all be. If you are already telling yourself you *might* fail nursing school then you are setting yourself up for failure. You CAN do it. It will be an awakening that's for sure because I didn't even realize the actual scope and intensity etc of being a Nurse. I am so happy I chose this career but be CONFIDENT!! :cat: P.s. feel free to message me for any questions & good luck.

May I ask what you ended up choosing? I am prospective nursing student questioning same thing as you did
