LVN to RN program at AVC

Published

Hello...just wanting to start a thread to see if anyone has any info they can provide about Antelope Valley Community College's LVN to RN bridge program? Little about me...I was a faithful COC student for 5 years and when I applied to the program, I got a ridiculous lame denial. I am super disappointed but oh well, so I applied to AVC in March of this year. I called the Nursing Office and was told that I am #53 on the waitlist. Not sure what that means. Do I get ready for fall 2018? or assume it will be sometime in 2019. From what I gather, I need to call them weekly for waitlist # updates to see if I have moved up but I am curious on what others can share about their experience. By the way, I paid to take the TEAS VI and passed successfully 1st attempt. My pre-reqs are all done but 2 (philosophy and a history class) that I plan to take online this summer. Any advice given is appreciated...thank you

I’ve been calling and no one answers. Great!!! I look at my mail everyday since they said April. Hopefully this week or next week. You might have to wait until next year like me. I was 23 last year. I was told by the nursing director that only if someone does not pass the background check I could possible get in but I knew I wouldn’t. So then after May I called and I was finally #3. And here I am waiting for my package.

I know what you mean. I check my mail daily and ask my husband to check. LOL my friend said she was 23 last year and she got in. She just got in as an alternate, so she said the same would happen. At that since I got the letter last Sept, that was a shoe in too. I honestly don't know and just pray that it is my turn this year. 23 is pretty darn close and since I have everything complete, who knows....maybe some will choose another school? You should definitely hear from them soon. Wish I knew when but we don't know.

Yeah all we can do is pray. I’ll let you know when I get it. Maybe we get at the same time lol. I’m tired of waiting!!

I have been in this industry since 1991 and ran front office then worked my way to back office. It took me 20 + years to put my needs 1st to follow my dreams and become a nurse. I did the LVN route so I could gain nursing experience. I kept consistent in college and here I am. I agree with you and honestly I pray it happens.

Same here! I’m desperate now lol I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time and I can’t believe it’s here.

Me too....I have a feeling that I will get in. I have to believe it.

I called the nursing office. The girl sounds so annoyed from most likely everyone calling and asking when the letters come out. But I’m like why the hold up. Summer semester is almost here.

Ohhhh, I am sure she is annoyed at this point in time. With their LVN, RN & LVN to RN programs starting close together, I am sure they are overwhelmed. We should be hearing something by next week and then will be the rush to get your immunizations, physical appointment and documentation ready to start. There is a better way to do this and I wish they made it easier for everyone.

What you mean by documentation ?

All of your paperwork completed and turned in to them. There is a physical form that needs to be signed by your dr and they will require a slew of blood titers. Some people need time to complete this.

Yeah okay. I thought there was more than the physical and immunization. Well they need to hurry lol.
