HI
My LVN programs starts on fall 08, is a 2 year program (california, sacramento area), but I really want to become an RN, the waitlist to get into the RN program is huge, so I decided to to start the LVN program and then do the step up program and become an RN, it will only take me one more year.
I heard some bad things about the step up programs, I was told that if I become an RN that way, I won't be able to move to other states because they won't consider me an RN.
Is that true?
Has anyone done the bridge program before?
What are the good and bad conscecuences about doing the lvn to rn bridge??
Thank you all!!
can someone tell me how to move this message to the lvn - rn forum??

That is partially true, but I am not too clear on the specifics. California apparently has some 30 unit option thing or something like that, which I've read about here on AN, that does not result in obtaining a diploma, or associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing. If you go to a program that grants a degree, you should be able to move to any state and get licensed without problem.
