LVN to RN advice

Hey! What advice would you give to an LVN student who needs to prepare for the LVn to RN bridge? TIA!

Use good study habits from Day One.

While the program I work for is not technically a bridge- I have about 25% LPNs. What typically happens is they are familiar with the early MedSurg content- and don't really deeply LEARN it on the level they should. They do just enough to pass. THEN, when the more difficult and complex content comes along- they are handcuffed by their poor study habits.

So I guess my advice is pretend you've never seen the content before and study as though you're about to fail.

I started life as an LPN and bridged all the way up to a DNP eventually. Good luck to you!

Thanks!! Which skills should I prepare to study for?

The physical skills are far less important than the didactic content.

You need good study skills- in other words, reading for content, picking out the main idea, outlining, critical thinking / connecting the dots.
