I'm interested in moving back to the DFW for a LVN program. This is something I have been wanting to do for awhile now. My options are limited at the moment with a LPN program since the city I live in now only has 1 program in a large city in the Midsouth. I will be a CNA in about 2 wks now. So now I'm ready to begin my journey in the next step. I was wondering if there are any pre-reqs at Concorde in Arlington for their LVN program. And if so what are they? Do you have to take a NET? Also what are the hours of the courses? I'm aware of the student loans and Concorde being known as expensive in loans. How did you pay the loans off after graduating? And do you feel like Concorde was the best choice for you? Is it also possible to work full or partime as a CNA and be able to handle gas, apartment or housing while going to Concorde's LVN program?
Thanks everyone for your help!:nuke:

I can only answer a couple of your questions but not all sorry ....I start in June YES!!!! Im excited can you tell ha ha ....There are no pre-reqs and yes you have to take the net it was pretty easy .To help you with that go to the pre nursing area and click on the sticky "all about the net " It is wonderful and very helpful ! You only need to score like a 45 ...should not be a problem . they have a full time and part time programs full time varies between 8-6 Monday -Friday and part time is 2 nights per week from 6-10 and every other weekend from 8-9. Hope that helps a little and good luck !

I'm currently in Concorde's LVN program, so I can help you out with some of your questions.
I was wondering if there are any pre-reqs at Concorde in Arlington for their LVN program. And if so what are they?
No pre-reqs, but you have to have a high school diploma or GED.
Do you have to take a NET?
Yes, you do have to take the NET.
Also what are the hours of the courses?
I'm in Level 1 right now and our hours are Monday-Friday, 9-3:50-ish. We get an hour break for lunch between 12 and 1. I'm not completely sure what the hours are for the next level, but I do know that Level 2 clinicals are 3 days a week from 6am-2pm and I believe that the other two days you are in class from 8-4.
I'm aware of the student loans and Concorde being known as expensive in loans. How did you pay the loans off after graduating?
Haven't graduated yet, but based on the salary range in DFW, paying off student loans shouldn't be a problem. Try federal loans or loans from other sources before using Concorde's financing. Their interest rate is 18% or something ridiculous like that!
And do you feel like Concorde was the best choice for you?
I'm happy with Concorde. I wanted a short program because I want to get out and start working ASAP. Concorde is strict and they sometimes treat you like you are in kindergarten. Their dress code is strict. They have niggly little rules and the teachers will seriously tell you to spit your gum out if they catch you with it in class. That aside, I do feel like I am getting my money's worth. I feel like I am being challenged academically and I really appreciate that. I'm very pleased with the program and as stressful as it can be sometimes, I'm having a blast!
Is it also possible to work full or partime as a CNA and be able to handle gas, apartment or housing while going to Concorde's LVN program?
If you're doing the evening program, absolutely. If you are doing the day program, I'm not so sure. I think that it would be difficult to work while I am in this program. There are very few people in my class who work and those who do work very limited hours. By the time I get out of school, I am completely drained. It's mentally exhausting. Add up to 4 hours of homework a night to that and it's tough. The first week is the hardest, but it does get easier. If you want to work, I would honestly look into the evening/weekend program.
I hope that helps you! Let me know if you have any other questions about it. I'll help with whatever I can!

I was wondering if you knew the schedule for the night and weekend classes?
