LVN on probation

Specializes in Geriatric, Skilled nursing, Clinic Nurse.

hi guys!! I'm currently on nursing probation seeking any job that could possibly be approved by the board to meet the requirement of nursing probation. I had a DUI back in 2017. All the nurse support group meetings are over an hour away. I've applied to about 60 jobs already and been turned down due to being on probation. I'm not allowed to do home health or a charge nurse. I've looked into dialysis centers and treatment facilities. I'm getting worried. This is the last requirement I need to complete for probation. I'm trying to be patient and keeping my hope and faith that the right position will soon come along but it is discouraging so far. Please if I can ask for any help or advice that would be more than great. I'm not sure what else to do so that's why I wrote this post to network and get this out there and seek some advice and help if possible.

Hang in there.

The problem is that I need to have either a RN, a physician or a nurse practitioner or anyone who holds a license higher than mine that works on site during my shift to provide adequate supervision. I have heard back from detox centers but the problem I'm finding is that they do not have a RN or Physician on site they work remotely. Which is a problem. I've had to turn down interviews due to that. I'm not allowed to work in home health or in schools because lack of supervision. LVN jobs at hospitals are rare now and ones I do find are traveling case managers which I cannot do either. I've tried dialysis centers but haven't been chosen to move forward with the hiring process. I was valedictorian of both my LVN and CNA classes. I had one major set back in life and I'm going to find something. I'm keeping my faith and trying my best to network as well.

Pursue the Dialysis Center Job. It's Temporary. You work there 1 year, and then apply everywhere and the job prospects are far easier. The toughest part is getting that first job. That first job can be used as a stepping stone. One year after being in that job, potential employers are Not being the first ones to take a chance on you because someone else already did that and you proved yourself. So, that second and more desirable job becomes easier to get and those employers are far more likely to hire you.

Well, the dialysis job didn't want to go with me. They selected other candidates so right now there are no dialysis positions available anywhere near me. I did hear back just a little bit ago about scheduling an interview for a subacute but now the problem is that it is for a charge nurse for position and for the first position I obtain on nursing probation is not allowed to work as a charged nurse, I can work another job first, and then after I show that I do well on that, then I can work as a charge nurse.
I do not have a problem hearing back from people and wanting to schedule interviews. The hardest part of it is either if they are willing to work with a nurse on probation or making sure that there's adequate supervision on site while I would be working and making sure it's inappropriate position as well.  I was told no to working at any 6 bed congregation living, no home health positions. I'm just starting to feel lost that what jobs I can work at because most of the places that have our ends on duty or physicians are skilled nursing facilities or subacute and majority of those positions practically all of them are charge nurses. The only other places I can think of are urgent care's or doctors offices where there's physicians but a lot of those places are really hard to get into and I've heard rumors that Kaiser will not touch anybody on probation so I feel like my options are extremely limited and I don't know what else to do.

Sorry for the errors in the writing. I used voice text and it doesn't always do the greatest job with grammar

Go to urban low income.medixal clinics that cater to underserved populations. Also, contact the Dialysis Center Charge Nurse directly and explain your situation. The human resources department are likely blocking your application before it even reaches the Dialysis Center Charge Nurse.
