It would be exceedingly helpful if we knew exactly where in California you intended to work. After all, Northern California pay rates differ greatly from Southern California pay rates. Moreover, Central California pay rates differ from those being offered in the northern and southern parts of the state. In general, the California Department of Corrections (prison nursing) tends to offer the highest pay rates for LVNs.

I am a new grad, been on the job 7 months. I work acute care on a med-surg floor. I started at 18.74 an hour and just got a raise to 19.30, albeit the raise was wrong. Accodring to the union I should be making 21.96 for starting pay. Once my facility corrects the mistake, I should be at 20.61. We'll see.
