Specialties Geriatric

I'm a new grad and was wondering what kind of questions they ask at a SNF interview? I've heard that they've been focusing more on clinical questions than just regular interview questions... please respond, I NEED A JOB! lol.

Specializes in LTC.

Do a search on AN and you will find your answer. You need to ask them some questions as well, like what does the orientation consists of ? Nurse to resident ratio, who will be on your team.

Good luck

I've worked at various nursing homes and SNFs over the years. The common questions I've been asked include the following:

1. When can you start?

2. Why do you want to work here?

3. What would your coworkers say about you?

4. How is your attendance?

5. How would you handle an unhappy patient or angry visitor?

To be perfectly honest, I have never been asked any questions regarding clinical situations while being interviewed at a nursing home or SNF.

Specializes in GI/ geriatrics.

I'm also a new grad. and was just hired at my one and only interview lol. I got my license in hand 2 weeks ago and went on an application frenzy. I applied to 18 facilities in my county. This is probably my least favorite. It's a medicaid only Long term care facility in a VERY undesirable part of town. I took the position on the spot without hesitation. $ 21.00 per hr to start. I haven't worked since before I started my LPN program. I'm broke and desperate not to mention that Christmas is around the corner. Not sure if the questions they asked me will apply to you.

Iwas asked first, : What made you go into nursing? What shift are you most interested in working and which are you least interested in? I was asked if I had children , thier ages and would child care be an issue should i be needed for overtime. They asked if I had applied to other facilities. If I had my choice to work at any of theplaces I had applied, which would be my favorite? I was then told that the CNA's can be a little challenging and would I have a problem with delegating and enforcing what was asked of them! hahaha Then I was told that I seemed a little soft to work in a place like that! With that being said, Tomorrow is my first day :) This should be fun...
