LVN first, then Bridge, or RN Directly?

Just a general question. Have all prereqs and feel confident of being accepted to both LVN or RN programs soon. Have to choose which route to go. Is it worth getting the LVN first as I would be able to get to work sooner? Or should I just tough out the extra time and go for the 2-year RN directly? I do not have any student loans left due to previous education and finances are an issue. Some say bridging over is a waste of time and others say get the LVN first as there are other options for bridging. What is the consensus, please. Thanks.Wolf%20Paw.PNG

My vote is to do what is the easiest way to get accepted in one of the programs. I would apply to both and hope that I got into at least one of them. If money's an issue and you get into the RN program your state may allow you to sit for the LVN once you've finished the first year and then you can start working in the field and possibly get the rest of your education paid for.

I have all of my pre req's done for one of the RN programs in my area and need three for the other. I went to LPN school first just because it's easier here to go through the bridge program (basically you're in if you've done the pre req's) than applying and being turned away becuase they only accept 50 students and 450 applied.

Definitely apply to both just in case. I don't think the LPN bridge was a waste of time for me at all. Just the fact that I could work for a decent wage while finishing the 2 semesters for my RN as well as the comfort level of knowing that I at least have my LPN if God-forbid I got tossed from the program. Our RN program doesn't offer the LPN option and there are some students that have flunked out in the last semester with nothing more than their CNA! :sfxpld:
