You need to check with your BON and CC. At my CC the in order to sit for the LPN exam RN students would have to take an additional 4 credit course that focused on LPN scope of practice. The first year of the RN and that additional course made students elgible to sit for boards.

At my school we are allowed to do that after our third semester, which I did. I thought it was a good learning experience for what the RN nclex is going to be like and now I have a real feel for the type of questions and how the exam works. I also thought that it would be useful to work as an LPN during the last semester of school for the money and the experience. You should contact the BON in your state and ask if they will let you test by comparable education. I thought doing this was beneficial. Good Luck!

My State BON doesn't allow that. It depends on both your school and your State BON.

You need to check with your state BRN first, then, if your state allows it, check with your school. Some schools will not sign off on the application paperwork for their students.
