Hello everyone, new here. I'll be brief. Need some advice.
I am an LVN, two years experience in wound care and currently work for a home health company. Not what I thought it was going to be and are seeking (after the birth of my daughter - in the next month or so) to go solicit business with convalescent homes to see if they will hire me to do wound care for their patients, a couple times a week.
Questions:
1. How much should I charge them per patient? Or should I just jumble the whole day in one amount?
2. Do I have to carry E&O insurance or just go under them?
3. Has anyone else done this or am I just dreaming too much here?
Is there anything else that I should know before jumping in the water with both feet? I appreciate anyone that has any information that can help me out.
Thank you and God Bless,

At every LTC facility where I've ever been employed, these places will usually employ a full-time LVN to serve as the wound care nurse. Rather than contracting out the task of wound care, these places find it more cost-effective to hire a full-time LVN to do all the wounds and treatments in the building.

A lot of the places I've worked at (big and small) don't even have wound care nurses. Unless you are wound care certified, I don't think they would even consider you. The places that do have wound nurses have them FT M-Fri.
Hello...its labombagirl...understood about the advice...Bummer though...there has got to be a way that I can use my wound care skills and do it independently. I am just trying to find a way that I can work while on maternity leave and thereafter...disability will not cover my expenses to live...not by a long shot. Thank you for the advice though..if you got any more...I'm all up for it..
blessings,
Bev
