lucile packard fall 2021 new grad

Published

I was wondering if anyone has heard about lucile packard's new grad RN program for fall 2021? On their site they still have their Spring 2021 dates. I emailed them and they responded that dates for applications would posted late April/early may but nothing more.

Does anyone know how many people they intended to hire for the CVICU? ?

Hey! I also interviewed for CVICU ? I heard they may be hiring 2-4 for this cohort but I don't know for sure what they decided. When you interviewed, did they specify if there will be second unit interviews?

Congratulations!! Do you know how many ppl they ended up hiring? And can ask how your second interview was?

Unfortunately, I’m not sure how many they hired! I’m curious as well.

Absolutely! I definitely want to pay it forward if it helps any of you. I think that every unit is different in how they conduct 2nd interviews, so my experience may end up completely different from yours! My 2nd interview was in person, and while I thought it was just going to be me, it was actually a panel just like the first one with two other new grads who also moved forward.

The questions were simple, “tell us about a time when…”, “what is your 5-year plan, life goals” and were more personal. I didn’t get asked “why nursing, why LPCH, etc….” which I thought I would. But they do want to know about your personality, how you would handle a situation, etc. I didn’t get asked any case scenarios. We all got asked the same questions and went down the line. But this interview was definitely a way to see if you fit onto their unit. While I don’t think I was the best person that interviewed there, I think I was able to show my honesty and passion for nursing in front of the entire panel (the same panel from the 1st interview + staff nurses, nurse specialists) which I guess ended up getting me the job. ?

My best advice to all of you who have 2nd interviews is to be true to yourself and show your passion without boasting or flexing unnecessarily. Show them that you’re willing to learn. They don’t care that you’re experienced - they care if you’re human and you have compassion (something that can’t be taught). Good luck!!

Thank you soooo much! This was really helpful!! I hope you have an amazing future as an L&D nurse. And congratulations again!
