I am a new CNA and plan to pursue LPN next year. Which job would you consider first??
I know the hospital I would learn alot more but they don't offer tution reimburse for LPN. The LTC position which is union covers the tuition in full after one year but I know the daily skills will be limited. Both jobs would be overnight shift, as this is the only shift I can do.
help!

I saw your other thread & meant to comment on that..anyways I worked in a LTC just like the one you described. It was awful! We had a union there too & seriously I didn't see where the place was benifiting from it @ all, especially for the aides on night shift. If you can stomach the place for the next year though, than I say stay there if they offer tuition reimbursement. It will be better for you because after you become a LPN you can work @ your current facility. Best of luck to you :)
thanks much for replying!
yes, thats what I keep telling myself, if I can just stick it out its totally worth it. It just seems everyone would love to work in a hospital environment instead. As I can see it is much more professional and the learning experience would be great but the more I think about it the tuition reimburse is a far better deal! and most likely the hospital probably wouldn't even want to hire me as a LPN since I was already told by HR they are doing away with them at their facility and thats the reason they no longer cover LPN school.

This was my dilemna also.
I couldnt stick it out.
I'll just pay for the LPN myself next year and see what happens from there... Im hoping the hospital will change its mind on LPN hiring.
