LTC to MED-SURG!

Published

Hey ALL!

So, I've been in LTC for over 11 years (since I was 18 yo). Never worked anywhere else as a nurse. I have went from CNA-LPN-RN-BSN. I want to be a well rounded nurse. I have never worked in a hospital because I thought LTC was what I wanted to do for the long haul. But I have changed my mind. I am ready to work at a hospital, but I must admit. I SCARED AS S***! Any advice for a nurse going from LTC to Hospital? How is it different? Will my background in LTC help me any? Any areas that I should try first? Thanks!

I predict you will do very well. I've oriented a few LTC nurses in med/surg and it was the easiest thing ever (for me). They had one or two years of experience, each ...much less than you do.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! Makes me feel a lot better.

Well... med-surg will be a piece of cake for you!!!

:)

Edit: But how many years have you been an actual RN?

LPN-4years /RN-2 years
