LTC FNP

Published

Hi,

I am currently an FNP working in an internal medicine office part time and looking for a full time position. I'm thinking about LTC - hired by an outside company 8-5, with what seems like lots of independence and flexibility. The pay seems competitive and a nice sign on bonus. Wondering if anyone is currently working in this kind of environment and what their thoughts are? Is it truly 8-5 or is there some flexibility? During my interview the comment that was repeated a few times was it is very challenging but rewarding? Any thoughts or experiences are much appreciated!

I have a friend who does this - in two nursing homes for approx 400 residents. Her pay is pretty low for my area approx $85k and she does take some call (not sure exact hours). I would make sure to negotiate.

Thanks for the info. Wow that's a lot of residents to be responsible for! Do you know anything about her hours? The job is for 40 but they keep saying it is very flexible - wondering if there is an average number she works, if they are all on site at the facility and if it is more than 40?

Not sure about the hours but I know she takes overnight calls

I know some LTC NPs and would agree with traumaRUs,that they take calls for two faculities. I am not sure about the pay though. Beside the call rotation the work hours are 8-5.

The pay is pretty competitive. They say the hours are flexible - I wondered how many hours were actually spent in the facility? Are your friends required to be there 8-5?

Yes, she is there at least that amt of time.
