LSU's accelerated program?

U.S.A. Louisiana

Just wondering if anyone is currently attending or applying to LSU's accelerated program? I would love more information. How many people are accepted each year? Are they still basing acceptance at LSU strictly on GPA? I would love any info.

Hi hs2005...

I am currently ending my first semester in LSU's CARE program. This will be the fifth class thus far, since the program's existence and as such there are still issues that need to be worked out as far as organization is concerned. The program is technically an 18 month program however the first semester is not accelerated and consists of taking whatever pre-reqs you may need. Overall it will take 22 months to graduate. I did not have to interview so as far as I know, entrance is still based on GPA, however you may have to interview and upon application you must express interest in entrance into the accelerated program. I do know others who are further along in this program and it is very fast paced. If you happen to fail a class you cannot continue in the accelerated program and will have to finish with the traditional class which will probably take an additional year. I am still learning the system but so far so good... the only constant thing is change

Sunshine0425, I really want to know more about the Loyola program! I am an older student and will need to become a supervisor rather than floor nurse within a few short years. Nicholls is starting an ASN to BSN program this fall, but I had not heard about Loyola's program. Will they let you into an MSN program with an ASN?

They have a bridge program for ASN nurses with prior bachelor's degrees. It is a program that leads an individual into either their Nurse Practitioner program or Master in Health Systems Mgt. If you are interested you can go to their website and request info.
