LSU CARE PROGRAM 2021

Posted

Hey y’all I just wanted to start a thread for those planning on applying to the CARE program for 2021. I know it’s far out, but we can start planning ahead. Looking forward to talking to every one 🥰

I'm planning to apply! I graduated from LSU last year and decided for a career change. 2 prereqs left that I'm taking in Houston this Summer and fall!

Yeah I started off as bio so I only need 2 more classes which is nice! I’m nervous about not getting in cause people are saying it’s getting more and more competitive!

I will be applying! Currently finishing up my pre-reqs at UNO!

I am so excited! Taking 3 more prereq classes at Delgado and applying at the end of the year. Does anyone have a Microbiology book from Delgado they wanna sell me?

I am currently in the CARE 20 class. If you have any questions about the application process ot the program, let me know.

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats for GPA? I have a 3.4 but am nervous that may be too low since it’s getting more and more competitive

I was 3.7.

The thing with GPA is its mostly a minimum requirement. We definitely have folks in our class with 3.4 GPAs. They're trying to accommodate more and more CARE students every year to meet the nursing demand. We started with 68.

Hi! How are you liking the program so far? Also how long did you wait to get an invite for the proctored essay?

Proctored essay emails went out the first week of February. I'm curious to see whether they'll be doing it on campus this year or changing it to an online experience for COVID. Getting a chance to tour the campus and talk to a CARE student was a great part of the experience.

I'm enjoying it. We're a month into our first truly accelerated semester and doing our first clinicals so its...alot. But clinicals also means getting to know my classmates face-to-face which is a side effect of zoom school. As someone who has been out working and being a boss for a decade...being a student who doesn't know anything is hard. Clinicals  are mentally and emotionally taxing and the lecture days are equally long. We're finally seeing our personal lives really get shoved to the side. It's hard. But you just have to embrace the change and the fear and the struggle. It really flies by.

What is the schedule like before the actual accelerated part? time to work at least part time?

I believe they’re doing it virtual this year, I asked to make sure because I’m not from Louisiana. But I would love to take a tour.

That’s completely understandable. Keep pushing! You can do it.
I’m really nervous about the essay and interview.

What kind of questions is on the proctored essay? I want to prepare the best I can.
