Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Does anyone know how accurate the current schedule LSUHSC has for spring 2011 is. I know it says tentative and that we won't know our schedules for sure until advising but that's about a month away and I need to let my job know something as soon as possible so that I can change my work hours accordingly. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

You should call the school to ask.

There are really no supplies or equipment needed for the first semester because there really are no nursing courses involving skills or actual caring for patients physically. Yes, you have NURS 2371 but it's all history, theory, laws, ethics, and writing a bunch of papers on all of that stuff. You don't learn any skills, but the foundation is required for a BSN. They will tell you to buy scalpel blades from the bookstore for anatomy lab, but I'd hold off on that until you talk to your lab group (which will be assigned to you on your first day of lab). I bought 10 blades and never used a single one, I just passed them down. Old clothes and/or scrubs are pretty necessary for cadaver lab also.
You don't need stethoscopes, uniforms, or other equipment until your second semester.
