LSU applicants start in 2015

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello! I'm applying to LSU crna program to start in 2015. Wanted to start a thread to get feedback from others who are also applying on their interview experience. Also I would like feedback from those who have interviewed there before and provide any information that would be helpful about the program. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you already had your interview but I interviewed at LSU last year. I got in from the waiting list but I didn't attend. The interview was only about 10-15 mins. I was asked a few personal questions and one clinical question. They asked me "why I wanted to become a CRNA, am I aware of the rigors of the program and what I did to prepare." I was also asked what the 3 clinical signs of increased ICP was, which they asked because of my trauma experience. I believe there were about 4 people in the room and they were all fairly nice. The interview was very short and I left feeling that they didn't know enough about me. My advice would be to really let them know what you want them to know about yourself and try to stand out (something I don't think I did.) You have a short 15 minutes to convince them that you're the right fit for the program. I was 10th on the waiting list and got in. :snurse: Good luck!

Lady_stic,

Thanks so much for the information. I haven't been offered a interview yet, but I heard they just started emailing people about interviews. Have you ever heard about first group vs. second group of interviews at LSU. Is it true that for the first group, is the candidates that they want and the second group there's oy so many spots to offer? I'm just hoping that since I submitted my application a week and half before the deadline is the reason why I haven't heard anything about a interview yet. I have a friend who submitted her application 2 weeks before me and she was offered an interview yesterday.

im so nervous now! How does the alternate list work? Do they contact you at the last minute for a spot? The good thing is I'm in state so that's a plus!

RoseJ,

How did your interview go if u had it already. Any tips? Thanks!

My interview was yesterday! It was about 10 minutes long and there were 3 interviewers. They asked me about the type of ICU that I work at and what type of patients I take. Also If I was ready for the challenge (mentally and financially). Im not sure when to expect a call/email but hopefully its soon.

That's great! Good Luck., I'm sure you will get a spot! I have not heard anything yet. I called today and they are still reviewing applications. They will conduct more interviews in October as well.

So hopefully I hear something soon. What time of the day did they emailed you?

I'm assuming they didn't ask you any clinical questions?

They emailed me around noon time to set up an interview. They were really nice people and only asked me to tell them about a drip that I work with (how it works, what it does, etc).

Ok thanks! I'm really nervous that I haven't heard anything yet so. Just being hopeful!

Oh dont worry about it. I know they interview well into October so there is still plenty of time.

Travelerjen, have u heard anything from LSU yet?

Deegee not yet... I can't send messages if you email me your email I will write ya ...

I Kinda don't want to display my email for everyone lol. I called yesterday. The September dates are full. There's only one more interview date which is oct 1st. It's possible they may add another date due so many people submitting their application on the sept 1st deadline. When did u submit your application?
