I moved to the DFW area from California about 4 years ago, without knowing anyone here, either. The rehab hospitals offer better employment prospects than the major hospitals, and the pay tends to be better.

The rehab and LTAC (long term acute care) hospitals are Kindred, Lifecare, Healthsouth, Regency, and a few others.

I am purposely working in the nursing home setting right now because the pay is so much better than what is offered in the hospitals and, as a current student, I need all the money I can earn to pull me through these coming months.

Usually the large acute care hospitals have few openings for LVNs, but the ones I've noticed that do have openings from time to time are: John Peter Smith, Huguley, Parkland, Texas Health Resources Hospitals, and Methodist Hospitals. The pay tends to be a bit less than in a nursing home or LTAC/Rehab hospital though. The other hospitals listed in the above post hire LVNs regulary. With your experience you should have a fair chance getting hired. Nursing homes around here are hiring all the time.
